HPCAI Statement on Racism
The Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa (HPCAI) stands against racism, hate and violence.
Across the nation, people are grieving, and we grieve alongside them. A basic tenet of hospice and palliative care is that each and every human life has intrinsic meaning and value and that every person living with serious illness is seen as an individual with a unique history, goals, aspirations, preferences, values and beliefs. And that uniqueness should not be acknowledged but explored and respected as the context and the basis for our care plan.
The protection of human rights and the reduction of health care disparities are cornerstones of HPCAI’s mission to be the statewide leader in the enhancement of end of life care.
