Benefits to Patients

Iowa City Hospice’s care has many benefits to patients and their families—and to the patients’ physicians and healthcare professionals. Our care team of exceptional staff and volunteers partner with you to provide the most appropriate possible scope of hospice services and, ultimately, the respect, comfort, and peace of mind that patients and families need most.

Contact Iowa City Hospice:

When the patient has a limited prognosis of a terminal illness with diminishing results from radiotherapy or chemotherapy.

When the families’ needs demand extra time from you. The lessening of curative therapy often calls for an increase in care for the terminally ill patient and their family. Iowa City Hospice’s care team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

When the physician wants to guide palliative care. Hospice care is not a replacement for a trained physician but an extension of the physician’s services, and provides pain and symptom management for the patient and medical reports for the attending physician.

When supportive home care is needed. The Iowa City Hospice care team includes hospice aides, emotional and spiritual counselors, and volunteer services as needed. Our home care relieves the anxieties of the patient and family while adding life to each day.
