This luncheon provides an opportunity for bereaved to meet one another and share common experiences. We have tables reserved especially for this group and you will be greeted by Iowa City Hospice staff.
This luncheon is ongoing, meeting every other month. The Farmer’s Diner offers a wide variety of delicious and affordable meals.

We are seeking warm and compassionate people to serve as hospice volunteers. Duties include simple acts, like sitting and talking or holding a hand, that have a tremendous impact on someone’s life. Hospice volunteers who work with patients and families go wherever the patient is, including a private home, a long-term care facility or a hospital. Hospice is the type of care being provided, not the location.
We provide the information and confidence you need through a 14-hour training program that takes place over two days, as approved by Medicare and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, we have an upcoming training session scheduled. Please visit fill out an application and call us at (319) 351-5665 to register.

According to grief expert Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt, there are certain needs we have when we are grieving. There is a need for the bereaved to express their grief in some way whether verbally or in another way. We need to respect what our bodies and minds are telling us and learn to nurture ourselves, whether we are experiencing a multitude of emotions or numbness.
Grieving Your Spouse is a professionally led ongoing support group for people whose spouse or significant other has died in the last three years. The group is set up to help the grieving partner reconcile the loss. In the group, we not only learn from others who are also grieving but also have an opportunity to process our own grief. This is also a great opportunity to network with others who understand what you are going through.
This group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday each month from 5:30PM to 6:30PM at the Iowa City Hospice offices at 1025 Wade Street in Iowa City 52240.
To RSVP or for more information contact Julie Bockenstedt at 319-688-4217 or email@example.com.
