“11th Hour” Training for Iowa City Hospice Patient Care Volunteers

This specialized training offers the direct patient care volunteer additional training on the physical, emotional and spiritual changes at the end of life. Eleventh Hour volunteers are called upon to offer comfort, support, and a calming presence to a patient who is actively dying. Protocols for 11th hour assignments for patients in private homes and care facilities will be discussed. Sarah Neary and Mercy Hospice Unit Nurse Natalie Jenn will present the program in Classroom #4 on the basement level of Mercy Hospital. The class will also tour the Mercy 5 North Hospice Unit.

When: Monday, May 14, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Where: Mercy Hospital, Classroom 4, 500 Market Street

Please RSVP to Sarah Neary if you plan on attending this training.
